Do your shirts have sweat stains — while you’re wearing them? When you sweat, does your perspiration soak whatever shirt you have on?
Sweat is normal and natural. It protects your body from getting too hot. In fact, you have at least 2 million sweat glands on your body. But you may produce excessive sweat, a condition called hyperhidrosis.
Excessive sweat is embarrassing. Whether you’re with a new romantic interest, with your intimate partner, or in a meeting with your boss, you don’t want dripping perspiration to form dark circles on your clothes. The odor that goes along with it is hard to mask. Plus, your drycleaning bill undoubtedly goes up.
You have a special kind of sweat gland, called an apocrine gland, under your arms. When you sweat excessively and the sweat comes in contact with bacteria on your body, it makes the body odor produced that much worse.
You’ll be pleased to learn that we have an answer to the problem of excess perspiration: miraDry®.
How does miraDry eliminate excess sweat?
The miraDry system, cleared by the Food and Drug Administration to permanently reduce underarm sweat, sends thermal energy deep into your sweat, odor, and hair glands. The heat energy destroys the glands. The miraDry system is safe and approved for use in 45 countries.
What happens during the miraDry® procedure?
As you lie on a table, we place your arm overhead at a comfortable angle, then apply a local anesthetic on the target area to ensure your comfort. We mark the area we’re going to treat. A special miraDry hand-held device moves over the target area. Plan for a total of one hour for the treatment.
After your miraDry procedure
We ice the area using wrapped ice packs, and you continue this at home for a few days as needed. We give you written post-procedure instructions.
You can use over-the-counter pain medication for any discomfort. Wash the area very gently using a gentle liquid soap and apply drugstore antibiotic ointment on the area.
Wear loose clothing and wait several days before you do a strenuous workout. Don’t shave or use deodorant until we give you the green light.
