Discover the transformative potential of semaglutide injection in Memphis here, including expert insights about this weight loss treatment. To help you understand this groundbreaking medication, we’ve answered some of the most common questions.

How does semaglutide work?

Semaglutide works by imitating a naturally occurring hormone in your body called glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1), which tells your brain you’re full. Therefore, it helps you eat less and reduces cravings, making it easier to maintain a nutritious diet.

How often will I get semaglutide injections?

Most patients receive weekly semaglutide injections. At your initial consultation, we’ll discuss your individual needs and goals to determine the best treatment plan for you, including injection frequency.

How are my semaglutide injections administered?

You can receive your semaglutide injections from a provider in our office or administer them yourself at home. Below, you will find a step-by-step guide for self-administering weight loss shots.

Will I receive additional weight loss support?

Absolutely! At A Beautiful You, we provide comprehensive support, such as nutritional and exercise counseling—plus compatible treatments to take your results even further.

How do I self-administer semaglutide?

Self-injecting isn’t rocket science, but it’s a bit intimidating to start. Your provider will provide in-person training on self-administration before you leave your first appointment. Whether you’re getting informed before scheduling a consultation or just need a refresher, this resource is for you.

1. Assemble supplies.

2. Sanitize hands & injection site.

  • Wash your hands thoroughly for 20 seconds with soap and running water.
  • Clean your injection site with the alcohol wipe.

3. Prepare the medication.

  • Open the weight loss medication vial and remove the needle cap. Now, insert the needle into the middle of the rubber stopper and turn the vial and syringe upside down.
  • With the needle in the liquid, pull the plunger beyond your designated dose. Next, press the plunger to the correct dose to eliminate any bubbles.
  • Take the syringe out of the vial.

4. Inject your medication.

  • Using your thumb and forefinger, pinch the injection site (stomach, thigh, or upper arm) and get the syringe ready.
  • Hold the needle at a 90-degree angle to your skin, and insert it between your 2 fingers.
  • Gradually press down on the plunger rod until it stops, then take out the syringe gently. Dispose of the needle safely.
